Summary

Around a month ago we featured our special Stay @ Home series, with former guests of the show and today we’re back for another special episode with Andy Fallshaw, Co-Founder and CEO of Australian accessories brand, Bellroy.

Founded in 2009 alongside Matthew Fallshaw, Lina Calabria and Hadrien Monloup, Bellroy was the answer after the four realized there was a gap in the luxury carrier space. A certified B Corporation, the company only uses functional and durable material all made  with the intent of sustainable efforts.  What started as a meticulously well-designed wallet became so successful that Bellroy now carries various travel bags and tech accessories in their line.

In this episode, Andy details how he went from designing for Rip Curl to starting nine self-funded startups in an effort to "create something that brings value to people"—one of which became Bellroy. He later discusses how his business has managed to stay afloat and reprioritize workflow during COVID-19.

Thank you so much for tuning into our special Stay @ Home Series. As always, thank you for tuning into HYPEBEAST Radio and Business of HYPE. Please don't forget to rate, comment and subscribe to our other show.

What's up? This is Jeff Staples of the Business of Hype. And as everyone on planet Earth now knows,

0:07.2

this is kind of a strange time that we're living in. With everyone hunkered down in their own homes,

0:12.9

we were challenged with figuring out how to make a show, both logistically, because I typically

0:18.5

interview all of my guests in person, but also

0:21.6

like conceptually, like, what do you guys want to actually listen to right now in the midst

0:26.7

of what we're facing? What do you all need right now? So we figured maybe let's call a bunch

0:33.5

of the good people that have been on the show and just ask them how they're dealing

0:38.1

and coping with Corona, both from a business standpoint, but also a personal one.

0:43.8

I think hearing from people that inspire us will help us to figure out the footing in these

0:48.9

uncertain times. I think we all go through this daily battle of figuring out big picture problems like family

0:55.5

and unemployment and health, while also tackling minutia tiny details, like, when was the last

1:02.0

time I washed my hands, or do I have enough toilet paper, and it's a time to replace my mask,

1:06.7

or can I get away with one more day? These are definitely very unprecedented times.

1:12.5

And so this is just our small part

1:14.4

in attempting to gather us together and share some stories.

1:18.4

I hope you're able to get something out of these.

1:20.8

I know for sure it's helped me out a lot

1:22.8

just to have these conversations.

1:25.2

Okay, let's get into it.

1:32.6

Okay. to have these conversations. Okay, let's get into it. All right, well, thanks for coming on the show. This is kind of a special episode because we

1:38.0

probably couldn't be geographically further away from each other. But we're going to do this

1:44.0

via teleremote due to this COVID era that
