Summary

My 4th annual book club dedicated to my favorite author (and the greatest living storyteller) is HERE! Stephen King Summer 2024 officially starts June 2 but you can jump in at any time over the next three months to join us for two movie watch-a-longs and three books. We're READING: 'Salem's Lot King's second novel was originally published in 1975 and this is a vampire story. You Like It Darker This is King's latest collection of short stories that just published in May 2024. We will read one or two stories to discuss (this is perfect for those King-curious who don't want to commit to the novels). 11/22/63 One of my favorite novels of all time, this book is not scary and will let you into King's master storytelling without having to endure the horror. 0:27.1

dedicated to my favorite author of all time,

0:31.5

Stephen King. And I am so excited for what we have ahead of us in summer

0:37.3

2024. There are a few components to Stephen King Summer. The first is it's a book club. This year we are

0:47.1

reading two novels and a selection from his new short story collection, You Like It, Dark collection you like it darker that just came out this month. But before we get to

0:58.9

that in June we are reading Salem's Lot. This is a vampire story. This is King's second novel.

1:07.6

It was published in 1975 and it hits on some of the themes that come up time and time again in Stephen King's work.

1:17.2

So every year I like to offer a balance of his older classic stuff with newer stuff. I always like to offer a balance of

1:25.4

something scary and something less scary because I know so many of us kind of hit a

1:31.6

different place on the scale for how much fear we want in our reading.

1:37.6

So after we read Salem's Lot for most of July and August, we will be reading one of my favorite novels of all time.

1:45.9

It's on the newer side. It was published in 2011. It's called 112263. This is not a horror novel, which of course Stephen King is so famous for.

1:56.8

This is time travel and kind of a thriller suspense story.

2:03.0

It's about someone who decides to go back in time

2:05.6

and stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

2:09.4

So it's really different from some of the things

2:11.9

that you might think Stephen King rights and it's just one of my

2:17.0

favorite books of all time I'm very excited to share this with you but of course we're also going to get

2:22.0

sort of his horror scary side with with best in these long novels because both of those novels are really long.

2:34.4

Then we're going to pick a short story or two from his latest collection.

2:38.4

It just came out in May.
