Summary

Part 7: The Defense
The case against Letecia has been presented, and now it's time for the jury to hear the defense. There are two doctors who testify, including one high profile doctor who causes a HUGE stir in this case. The jury will watch clips of Letecia's interviews with the doctor, including one clip where Letecia turns into her other personality, Maria Sanchez, and describes what happened to Gannon.

In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies.  As the community searches for signs of the missing child, police, and Gannon's father Al, turn their attention to the bizarre behavior of stepmom Letecia, who was the last person to see him alive.
As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.
Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable.

In this seven-part series, we will walk through the background of this blended family, the search for Gannon, what happened when Letecia went on the run, her eventual arrest, and the bizarre trial that lit social media on fire.

When I first started this podcast, I released six episodes covering the trial of Letitia Stouk.

0:05.8

The original six episodes were just the audio from the videos that I did for my YouTube channel,

0:11.3

recapping what was happening in court with the witnesses. But I have always felt like the story

0:17.1

of 11-year-old Gannon Stouk and the circus that Letitia created through her antics

0:22.4

needed to be told in a more comprehensive way. I've spent the last couple of months going back

0:28.3

over all of my notes, re-watching the trial, suffering through the FBI calls again, and trying to

0:34.5

decipher what was being said in those insanity evaluations with Dr. Dorothy Lewis.

0:40.0

There are things that I picked up on this time that I didn't remember from the first time.

0:44.8

And there are more things that I found as I did some extra research and went down a few rabbit holes.

0:50.7

But rather than releasing a second series of the Letitia Stout trial, I have updated the previously

0:56.5

released episodes, season one, episodes one through six, though the original versions are still

1:02.8

available on my YouTube channel. But six episodes wasn't enough to dive in the way that I really

1:09.2

wanted to. We needed one more to complete this story.

1:13.2

So, this is that episode.

1:16.1

If you haven't listened to the updated versions,

1:19.1

I recommend stopping here and going back to episode one

1:22.0

before starting this one, so that you get the full story.

1:25.5

If you've made it through those,

1:27.0

and you're here to find out how the story ends,

1:30.1

buckle up.

1:35.4
