On July 2nd, 2008, a 53-year-old woman named Carol Kennedy went out for a jog in Prescott,

Arizona.

Carol usually started her evenings like that, as she was a very active woman who enjoyed

exercise.

She returned home a little after 7pm that Wednesday.

After making dinner, Carol called her 83-year-old mother Ruth Kennedy who lived in Nashville, Tennessee,

to see how she was doing.

Having her mother had become a nightly tradition for Carol, as she always made sure to check

in with her mother and see if everything was okay since Ruth lived alone.

Ruth and Carol usually talked into the night during their nightly calls, however this

particular call only lasted a few minutes before coming to an abrupt end.

Confused, Ruth wondered what could have happened to Carol, and a part of her was frightened

because she could have sworn she heard Carol scream out the words, oh no, before the call

was disconnected.

Ruth tried to call Carol numerous times after that, but her calls weren't going through.

Her worry grew with every passing second, and it wasn't long before she called the Avapai

County Sheriff's Office.

I was on the phone with my daughter, and she screamed and said, oh no, and the phone's

down dead.
