Summary

On January 15, 2016, Brussels based Sky News Correspondent Mark Stone received a desperate text message from Syrian refugee, Bassel Shekhany.
Shekhany had recently sought asylum in Germany and explained that his family and fiancé, Zanzon, were adrift in the Aegean Sea, after setting out to reach Europe from the Turkish coast, earlier that evening. At the time, crossings of the Mediterranean had claimed the lives of thousands of refugees, many of whom were fleeing the war in Syria.
Could he help?
