Summary

For most of StoryCorps' existence, we've recorded people in person at our storybooths. But on this episode of our special series celebrating 20 years of StoryCorps, we're looking back to when we stepped outside the recording booth to capture stories. Sometimes because we wanted to hear new voices... and sometimes because we had to.

0:36.7	That year StoryCorps founder, Dave Icee, went on stage to give a TED Talk.
0:41.3	Tonight I'm going to try to make the case that inviting a loved one, a friend, or even a
0:46.7	stranger to record a meaningful interview with you just might turn out to be one of the most
0:52.0	important moments in that person's life and in yours.
0:57.0	Dave had won the TED Prize.
0:59.0	And that night he was on stage to reveal a brand new idea. Here is my wish that you will help us take everything we've learned through Story Corps
1:10.0	and bring it to the world so that anyone can easily record a meaningful
1:15.9	interview with another human being which will then be archived for history.
1:21.1	Over the past couple of months the team at StoryCorps has been working furiously
1:26.0	to create an app that will bring StoryCorps out of our booths so that it can be experienced
1:30.7	by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
1:35.2	Together we can create an archive of the wisdom of humanity.
1:39.9	And maybe in doing so, we'll learn to listen a little more and shout a little less.
1:45.4	Maybe these conversations will remind us what's really important.
