This is the PM edition of What's News, the top headlines and business stories that moved the world today.

The abortion pill Mifopristone will be allowed to remain on the market at least for the next two days after the Supreme Court gave itself an extension to continue weighing the issue.

At stake is whether to block a lower court order that would limit access to the drug.

Both the Biden administration and the drugs manufacturer, Danko, have filed emergency appeals to keep that from happening.

And where National Legal Affairs reporter, Laura Cusisto, has more.

I think what this sets us up for is yet another ruling that potentially could come right before the weekend that could cause a lot of chaos and uncertainty around the country over the weekend, if in fact they decide to restrict access to the pill.

Or potentially on the other side, we could see this case kind of go away a little bit in the public imagination at least for a few weeks if they allow the status quo to stay in effect.

The case is the high court's first major test on abortion rights since overturning Roe v Wade, ending the constitutional right to an abortion last June, overturning 50 years of precedent.

Turning to more earnings news on this busy week, Tesla saw a 24% drop in profit in the first quarter after several price cuts.

Overall profit for the quarter was two and a half billion dollars, down from 3.3 billion a year ago.

The most recent price cut was made overnight and overall the company has lowered the prices for its models in the US between 14% and 25% this year in response to weaker demand rising interest rates and increased competition.

Reporter Rebecca Elliott has more on how that's impacting customers.

Tesla's price cuts for some of its most popular vehicles have brought prices back down to a round where they were in 2021 actually.
