I'm so grateful that you're here.

Gosh, I mean, the work that you've done, the songs that you've led, the way that you've led in the music industry has shaped music and especially in Christendom. So let's talk a little bit about your journey first, just in that world, because we're also going to talk about a book today that you're releasing a devotional that I'm excited about. But let's start with what most everyone knows you from and just

tell a little bit about that journey. And when did you know this is my calling or was there ever that

moment? You know, first of all, thank you for having me. I'm super excited to talk with you, to see your face. And thank you for this question. I have recently have had the opportunity now to share the stories behind the songs. And that has been such a blessing for me. I actually grew up in the home of a pastor. So my father and my mom, they started our church when I was 10 years old.

I also grew up in a family of singers and musicians.

So my mom's sisters and all of their children, everybody sings.

And then on my dad's side, all of my cousins, they played instruments, you know, teachers and preachers. So I've been

surrounded by music and word my whole life. So it's been a blessing. It's a strong foundation.

I wasn't necessarily like the premier singer in my family. I had cousins who can still to this day, like sing

heavens down. But at about 15 years old, I grew up in a small town called Jessup, Georgia,

and we were just bored. So a group of us teenagers, we say, you know what we're going to do?

We're going to start a community choir. And it's going to be teenagers from the eighth grade to seniors in high school. And so it's about 13 to 18 years old.

And I mean, we put out little flyers. We would pass them around our schools. I mean, I know the cutest thing.

And man, the initial rehearsal about 40 to 50 students responded and showed up to the rehearsal.

And I was actually the choir director.

I wasn't singing, leading in these songs.

I would teach the songs, direct the choir.

And we had several other song leaders.
