James Acaster here, comedian and music fan, and in 2017, I had a breakdown.

I dealt with that breakdown by buying as much music from 2016 as I possibly could.

As a result, I now own over 700 albums that came out in 2016 and I'm convinced it's

the greatest year for music of all time. But it's not enough me being convinced. I also want to

convince each and every single one of you, plus a guest every week. I'm going to send them an album

in advance. They're going to listen to that album. Come on the podcast. We're going to talk about

that album. This week, my guest is Tanya Moore, and we're talking about Mahoro Boshiyah by Ichiko Aoba.

Ichiko Aoba is a musician from Japan from the Kyoto Prefecture.

She is still quite young when she released this album.

I think she was like late 20s, mainly primarily a folk singer and songwriter,

although her music has developed a lot over the years.

This was the first album where she kind of opened up and got a little

bit more personal. Not that I would know, because most lyrics are in Japanese. This is the most

soothing album I think we're covering on the podcast, one of the most soothing. There's quite a few

delicate, like quite relaxing albums we've had on the podcast. But I think this is so, oh,

every little, you can just see every little note and every little bit just like piece together and a really fragile way you can

just topple any song if you just push that note over the whole thing would just come tumbling down

it sort of very delicately put together and the whole thing is just so i don't know it feels very serene it feels very relaxing

this was quite a big album as well in Japan like it's a very big artist in Japan at this time, but not so much in the UK or the US.

Like nowadays, like her album from 2020, that did quite well over here.

Like, she's getting more fans now.
