Summary

Kevin Turner sits down with Gary Watkins and Haydn Cobb to break down the annual Autosport Top 50 for 2024, evaluating the best drivers across all of the National and International Racing scene. In the first of a two-part mini-series, Kevin goes behind the scenes and explains how our journalists and reporters put the list together, who was unfortunate to just miss out on making the list and who has dropped off the 2023 Top 50, before discussing positions 50-21 of the list itself, featuring drivers from F1, F2, the British Touring Car Championship, IMSA, Formula E and Super GT, Super Formula and the World Endurance Championship. 1:29.1

of respect for series, asked to have an overview. And then it's a case of arguing who goes

1:36.0

up and down, if they have dual programs, whether that rises their ranking or indeed

1:39.8

drops their ranking. And yeah, a huge email long list goes around to the series reporters who then may put their own inputs in of who should be up, go up, go down, get dropped entirely.

1:54.0

And by and large, after a few hours, it comes together.

1:57.6

I'm going to say not a few hours, a bit longer than that, actually.

2:08.0

And then I'm saying that as someone who's been involved in every one of these since the very first Alltersport top 50 back in 2003.

2:10.5

And I'm going to say, 2002. 2002 is the first one.
