John, we are in sections 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the Doctrine and Covenants this week. It's about the translation of the Book of Mormon with Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. However, the story I'm
0:22.8	going to share, John, is actually the translation of the Book of Mormon by Judy Brummer.

0:34.3	I thought Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. He did. But so did Judy Brummer. I'm going to tell you how. So, wait, I thought Joseph Smith translated the book Mormon. He did, but so did Judy Brummer.

0:42.9	It's a little bit of a longer story, but totally worth it when you see how it all works out.
0:49.5	Judy grows up in Karoo, South Africa. She grew up to a very Methodist family. She said, I love my Methodist
0:59.9	family. They're hardworking, good, honest, decent farm, country, bumpkin people. She said her mom was
1:07.2	very educated. She taught us the Almighty God is not called Almighty for nothing.
1:14.0	He can do anything, anywhere, any time. Her mom, John, this is an interesting part of the story,
1:20.7	Gwenna, at a time when not a lot of women are able in South Africa to get a university education,

1:29.1	parents, Gwenna's parents, so Judy's grandparents, didn't have any sons. What's interesting is
1:35.1	in South Africa at the time, if you had a bachelor's degree, you could keep your children
1:41.9	out of boarding school until they were 10.
1:45.8	Judy and her parents, her family, they grew up on this massive farm.
1:50.6	She said, if you did a 360-degree twirl at my house, there was no sign of any other human being.
1:59.2	My father owned a 10,000-acre ranch. On the ranch, they had some
2:05.1	servants working for them. And all of the families of all the servants came from families of the
2:11.0	same tribe, the COSA tribe, and they only speak the COSA language, which is the clicking language that maybe you've seen on a documentary
2:21.2	or something. You can look this up online. So, John, you can only learn this language from being a child
