About eight weeks ago, I got an email from somebody who said, I read your boy Christ's book.

0:05.6

It was really helpful to me. As a result of that, I did not kill myself and I did not do the mass

0:11.3

shooting I was planning to do. I wrote a 52 page manifesto about the mass shooting I was planning,

0:17.6

but I was brought up by a mom and I was brought up by two aunts and a grandmother and none of them

0:24.0

had any men in their lives. And I had no man in my life. He hated his mom and by extension,

0:29.2

he hated all women. And so he then ended up getting involved with 4chan and HN, which are basically

0:35.8

neo-fascist type of groups. In HN, two of those people in HN have already committed major

0:41.6

mass shootings. And I said, well, what attracted you to 4chan and HN? He said, now in retrospect,

0:47.1

after I read the boy Christ is what I'm seeing is that I had no structure, I had no father figure,

0:51.4

I had no sense of purpose. No one, look at this. You saved lives, Lauren. I mean, it's tragic that

0:57.8

it has come to that where your book about the Christ among boys might have spoken to someone and

1:03.1

kept them from doing something terrible. One of the things that I've found about angry men or

1:07.7

angry women in the couples communication workshop, anger is vulnerability's mask.

1:15.8

Most every time you see somebody that is angry, you can ask a different question, how are they hurt?

1:21.7

What is their vulnerability? And if you ask that question, you begin to listen to their pain.

1:27.9

And when you listen to their pain, don't argue with them about their pain, but just let them know

1:34.4

what you hear that they said. And you will see an enormous reduction in their anger. That's the way

1:41.4

to deal with angry people, not by making them into horrible human beings that you hate, because hate,

1:48.5

net by hate only increases hate.

This week, on forward, the author of The Boy Crisis, why are boys are struggling and what we can
