I'm Emily Camponio, and this is the Crimes of OJ Simpson 30 years later.

Okay. of O.J. Simpson 30 years later. On June 17th, fans tuned in to NBC to watch game five of the NBA finals,

where the Houston Rockets played the New York

Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

95 million sets of eyes were glued to their television screens, and audiences across

the country sat with bated breath.

But they weren't watching the game.

Breaking news had interrupted the finals, and for two hours, Americans watched as

dozens of police cars chased a white Ford Bronco across Los Angeles freeways. Former NFL star

Al Cowlings was behind the wheel. In the back seat, with a loaded gun, sat disgraced professional

athlete O.J. Simpson.

Simpson was the main suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend,

Ron Goldman, which had occurred five days prior. He was scheduled to be arraigned earlier that day.

Instead, America's beloved athlete became America's most wanted fugitive.

Joining me now to unmask the dark side of Simpson and the sports world that lifted him up is

former sideline reporter Michelle Tofoya. June 17, 1994, is widely remembered as a day that the sports world crashed together.
