On March 21st, 1938, a woman was born who would command an entire movement

of people, some of whom were worse off for knowing her and may have lost their lives in the names

of her belief. So if you like her coffee hot, but your bones chilled, sit back and start your day

with a morning cup of murder.

Terry Lee Hoffman was born on March 21, 1938 into poverty, and at the age of nine, was sent

to a Lutheran orphanage where she saved for two years before being adopted and given the last

name of Benson. Made to pick cotton when she was just a child,

according to her claims, Terry knew from the time she was just four years old that she was

destined to be something special. How did she know? Well, allegedly God himself appeared to the

young girl in visions. And while sitting under an apple tree to get some relief from the stifling sun,

she said she saw three men in splendid robes appear suddenly

and tell her that she could be anything she wanted as long as she wanted it bad enough.

Also telling her to think of God when she was troubled,

they warned the child that they could not be seen by many others and that she was chosen specially.

Relying on this vision to get her through her early years and to survive her alcoholic father, they began again when she entered that orphanage.

And this time, the men taught her how to pray when despondent, and Christ himself
