Summary

In the 1930s a peculiar story began filtering out from the towns and villages surrounding a small farm on the western coast of the Isle of Man. Reports of a talking animal, a local spook that could sing the Manx national anthem, engross itself in the local gossip and hunt rabbits better than any of the local poachers, had made their rounds locally and shot out into the wilder world, confounding anyone who gave the story the time of day. If only those interested in the affair had been as smart as the spook itself, who had cheerfully told the owner of the farm one evening, “If you knew what I know, you’d know a hell of a lot!”For almost anything, head over to the podcasts hub at darkhistories.com Support the show by using our link when you sign up to Audible: http://audibletrial.com/darkhistories or visit our Patreon for bonus episodes and Early Access: https://www.patreon.com/darkhistories The Dark Histories books are available to buy here: http://author.to/darkhistories Dark Histories merch is available here: https://bit.ly/3GChjk9 Connect with us on Facebook: http://facebook.com/darkhistoriespodcast Or find us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/darkhistories & Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dark_histories/ Or you can contact us directly via email at [email protected] or join our Discord community: https://discord.gg/cmGcBFf The Dark Histories Butterfly was drawn by Courtney, who you can find on Instagram @bewildereye Music was recorded by me © Ben Cutmore 2017 Other Outro music was Paul Whiteman & his orchestra with Mildred Bailey - All of me (1931). Jeff, the talking mongoose. It's going to be a two-part episode because there is just so much of Jeff.

And you might have noticed already this episode is coming out a week later than it normally would of it was it was due out last week, but it proved to be a little bit challenging tracking down a few sources. But as I was writing writing it it kind of worked out because I

1:14.4

realized actually this is going to be a two-part episode but it gave me a little

1:19.5

bit of time to allow for the slack postage on a couple of the sources that I bought.

I'm going to still release that

like as scheduled next Sunday because basically as I was waiting for some sources to

arrive I just carried on writing on what I could. So yeah I've basically made a two-part

1:46.1

episode in three weeks which is great. So yeah with all that said let's get into
