In the 1930s, a peculiar story began filtering out from the towns and villages surrounding a small farm on the western coast of the Isle of Man.

Reports of a talking animal, a local spook that could sing the Manx national anthem, engross itself in the local gossip

and hunt rabbits better than any of the local poachers, had made their rounds locally and shot

out into the wider world, confounding anyone who gave the story the time of day.

If only those interested in the affair, it had been as smart as the spook itself, who had

cheerfully told the owner of the farm one evening, if you knew what I know,

you'd know a hell of a lot.

Hello and welcome to Dark History, season 7, episode 23. And today, well, this has been a long time coming for this episode, we're going to be talking about

Jeff, the talking mongoose. It's going to be a two-part episode because there is just so much of Jeff.

And you might have noticed already this episode is coming out a week later than it normally would of it was it was due out last week, but it proved to be a little bit challenging tracking down a few sources. But as I was writing writing it it kind of worked out because I

realized actually this is going to be a two-part episode but it gave me a little

bit of time to allow for the slack postage on a couple of the sources that I bought.

So yeah, it kind of all worked out.

The good news also is, although it's a two-part episode, it's not going to be another two weeks

for part two.

I'm going to still release that

like as scheduled next Sunday because basically as I was waiting for some sources to

arrive I just carried on writing on what I could. So yeah I've basically made a two-part

episode in three weeks which is great. So yeah with all that said let's get into
