You know, at that point, as an investigator that you just, it's like a plunge in the

gut. You know, you know, probably what you're going to find, but you hope and you pray

for the family that you can come back with some good news. You know, you're going to

work every day and say, Lord, if we find this person, if this family have justice,

you're going to have some clothes here somewhere.

Really excited to talk to you guys about this case today, but the best way to set the story

up is to help you picture where the case began really in Villanelle, Georgia, which is

a rural city with only 2,000 residents. It's a city so small that it doesn't even have

a school or a post office. Imagine that Anisee, that's small.

You're talking about how small it is Scott, but yet it is one of the most terrifying cases

that I myself have read about. And I've seen, as we know, a lot. And this is one that I

will tell all of you, not much makes me not sleep or keep thinking about something when

I'm able to turn my brain off. I actually couldn't sleep the night that I first read about

this.

So on the morning of August 17, 1989, Joe Gilbereth, just his wife, Nikiya Gubai,

and headed for work around 6 o'clock in the morning. Nikiya was a 23-year-old petite blonde.

She was five months pregnant with a couple's second child. It wasn't until 5 o'clock that
