So Joe Biden you have to take the presidency from Trump has to take it from him for a coalition of decent people in this country who look at this rightly and just say we can't do this anymore.

I'm David Plough.

I'm Steve Schmidt.

This is Valgrin, a podcast from the Reacon.

0:22.0

Steve Schmidt my old friend and adversary and now colleague and arms talk about where you see the race today.

0:32.0

Can Biden put together enough of these battleground states Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Florida to win and what do you think his best pathway is to victory?

0:43.0

I think that he isn't a commanding position right now in the race and if you gave both sides truth serum everybody on the Trump campaign would much rather be on the Biden campaign.

0:56.0

Every time that Trump tries to appeal to the non college educated white male voter through the fear campaign, targeted for example in states like Wisconsin or Minnesota Ohio.

1:11.0

He's putting himself into difficulty with college educated women voters particularly in sunbelt states like Arizona and Florida.

1:21.0

And he's in real trouble in the state of Florida with senior citizens, though he's over performing with Hispanic voters.

1:31.0

I think Florida is probably the most important state here.

1:34.0

I think it's a checkmate in the electoral college or as close to it as you can get if Biden wins it. It's got the dual purpose of also being clear on election night or very early the morning of the fourth because they're going to count more of their votes on election day than most states are because they release a lot of their mail in ballot results that day.

1:50.0

We can save the country months of pain if that type of victory comes. I think that there has to be a real focus in this final stretch on the Puerto Rican vote, which is in the I for a corridor around Orlando.

2:03.0

Hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans living in the state of Florida that had a move there because of the hurricane and the terribleness of of Trump's incompetent response there.

2:15.0

What would be great for the country is for there to be decisive, determinative election that makes it very difficult for Donald Trump to claim that it was taken from him.

2:27.0

It was stolen from him that it's not legitimate. So I think when you look, I think the state of Florida puts it away for Joe Biden.

2:35.0

You know, with your Lincoln project work, one of the things I like about what you guys are doing is you're really taking the wood to Trump in really creative ways, but you're also doing some both comparative ads and positive ads for Biden.

2:48.0

So I'm curious, what are you seeing in Pennsylvania?

2:50.0

We're going to see what African American turnout is in Philadelphia and in the western part of the state and how many Obama Democrats in the tea can come back to Joe Biden in his home state.

3:03.0

You mentioned the tea of Pennsylvania for people who aren't keystone state experts. That's kind of the area between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. James Carvell sort of impolitically put it as pencil tucky back in the day.

3:16.0

And you know, for a Democrat to win Pennsylvania, they just got a max out turnout and margin in Philadelphia. I think Biden, like Hillary did, will do very well in the suburbs surrounding Philly.

3:27.0

So then I think Biden's got to do those two things are hard enough, but I have some confidence about to do that.
