Summary

On his first day as president, Donald Trump signed an executive order shutting down the asylum system at the US-Mexico border. He also promised huge changes to the US immigration system, including arrests and mass deportations of undocumented migrants. Santiago Vanegas from BBC Mundo has been following a group of Venezuelans who are trying to go back to their home country, undertaking a dangerous journey through Central America. having me. Santiago, one of the people you talk to is a woman called Adrianaela. What's her story?

Yes, so Adriangela is a Venezuelan young woman who spoke to me from a shelter in Panama.

Like many others, she decided to leave her country and tried to get to the U.S. to look for a better future for her and her family.

She's one of almost eight million Venezuelans that have left since 2014 because of the economic and political crisis that the country leaves.

And she left Venezuela six months ago in September of 2024 with her two-year-old daughter.
