On June 29, 1948, the body of a young girl was found in a

case that, with so many rumors and speculation, remains unsolved. So if you like your coffee hot

Stanley Scridla, born May 8th, 1920, was 28 years old in the year 1948.

Having attended school in Rockford, Illinois, upon graduation, Stanley began serving in the U.S. Navy from October of 1943 to December of 1945, was stationed in the Pacific, and saw action on the island of Guam during World War II, before being honorably discharged. Now back on U.S. soil,

Stan, as his friends knew him, began to work at the Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a lineman,

and by 1948, he was living in the Rockford area with his widowed mother, Amelia. It was around this

time that Stan met a young woman named Mary Jane Reed. Mary Jane grew up in the Oregon, Illinois area, where Stanley went for work,
