Home schooling was on the rise before the pandemic and as you might expect it then spiked.

With the pandemic now firmly in the rearview mirror homeschooling is again on the rise.

Have homeschoolers finally entered the mainstream?

I spoke with Angela Watson, creator of Home School Hub and

Colleen Ronsich, a policy analyst at the Cato Institute's Center for Educational Freedom.

COVID gave a lot of people a look under the hood in a sense of how schooling gets done by young people being compelled to sit in front of screens.

In some cases, a teacher I know was had first and second graders

who were being compelled to sit in front of a screen

for a long periods of time over the course of a day and she

quit her job and started a school.

But for parents, for whom a private school is not an option, but homeschooling is.

We have, you have somebody in the household who can manage that gargantuan task quite often

to educate a young person in your family for the hours

a day that is required.

What have we seen in terms of trends from COVID initially but in the last couple of years as well.

I think a lot of people weren't sure if it was going to stay after during COVID there was a huge spike of

course and it was a little bit unclear at first just because you couldn't tell people that

said they were homeschooling if they were just doing school at home or if they were actually homeschooling. people that

they were homeschooling if they were just doing school at home or if they were actually homeschooling and it turns out a lot

were actually homeschooling and have continued and if there's a number of
