Apple adheres to the law in countries in which it does business.

Sometimes, though, it also says how high, when no law has been broken.

On Tuesday, says a piece from USA Today,

Apple Maps officially changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America,

as did Google Maps one day earlier.

The move follows an executive order signed by President Trump on the 20th of January,

derp, dirp, derping his way into something for which nobody voted.

According to a piece on the 21st of January from Apple Insider,

Trump's order directed the U.S. Board on Geographic Names to recognize the body of

water as the Gulf of America. And immediately, at least one congressman wanted to know what the

holdup was with Apple Maps. 21st of January, Representative Dan Crenshaw, Republican of Texas,

added Apple CEO Tim Cook on Twitter saying,

Hey Tim Cook, just noticed Apple Maps still calls it Gulf of Mexico, sent a report through the app but

thought you'd want to know.

He's so funny.

Thing is, things take time.

While Trump's order went to the U.S. board on geographic names on the 20th of January,

actually, that was Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday, so they probably didn't even get the order until the 21st.

Either way, as I say, things take time.
