Summary

Step into the eerie world of the Black Monarch Hotel, once a raucous saloon, casino, and brothel in the historic mining town of Victor, Colorado. When owner Adam Zimmerli first laid eyes on the vacant building, he saw an opportunity to resurrect its past and breathe new life into its ghostly halls. Today, the Black Monarch’s lavish Victorian gothic décor, themed rooms, and unnerving supernatural encounters make it one of the most chilling destinations in the West.

The historic Monarch building was once renowned as "the finest gentleman’s club this side of the Mississippi." Since the early 1900s, its Victorian walls have witnessed countless tales, from stories of violence to accounts of hauntings. Rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1899, the newly named Black Monarch Hotel never truly lost its original inhabitants. Because it isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a place that might stay with you.

Today on The Grave Talks, the hauntings of the Black Monarch Hotel. A conversation with owner Adam Zimmerli. This is Part Two of our conversation.

have that haunted feeling to it?

0:45.8

Yeah, very much so.

0:47.6

0:58.8

have a little bit of a ghost story, you know?

1:00.8

I was reading that your building, the ghost story was a woman in an upstairs.

1:08.2

And is it kind of on the corner of the building?

1:11.4

1:16.6

before I ever even got here, definitely.

1:20.6

And it's a woman they see in the window.

1:22.7

I'll tell you.

1:23.9

Yeah.

1:24.8

And so that had been reported for really years before we ever came here, I ever came here.

1:30.3

And then I'll tell you, so the haunting that I really have experienced here, so like I said, the bank initially warned me that the building was haunted.

1:41.1

And so I believe I started construction. I think it was in October of 2018 at the end of

1:47.3
