It was a book launch that triggered a political firestorm.

On Sunday, the New York Times published an opinion essay by the authors of the Education

of Brett Kavanaugh, describing some of their findings from a ten-month investigation

into the sexual misconduct allegations against the now Supreme Court justice.

The authors mentioned a previously unreported allegation of Kavanaugh as a young Yale University

freshman exposing himself while his penis was thrust into the face of a female co-ed.

And the authors wrote they had found new corroboration for a similar incident involving yet another

Yale student.

Immediately, Washington went wild.

Six Democratic presidential candidates called for Kavanaugh's impeachment.

But how solid were these new allegations?

After the piece was published, the New York Times read an editor's note, pointing out that

a crucial piece of information from the book had been left out.

But the alleged victim of the new allegation doesn't remember the incident at all.

Did the authors overstate what they had actually uncovered and did the New York Times screw

up, handing a huge gift to President Trump and his Senate Republican allies?
