On September 1st, 2012, a young woman's body was found in a case

that was added to the growing list of missing and murdered indigenous women, ones whose cases are

often neglected by law enforcement. So, if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled,

sit back and start your day with a morning cup of murder.

Amber Alyssa Tukaro was born on January 3, 1990 in Alberta, Canada, as a member of the

Miccoso-Kree First Nation. And in the year 2010, when this story takes place, the 20-year-old was

living in Fort McMurray, Alberta, with her mother

and her 14-month-old son, Jacob. Though she struggled to provide for herself and her son,

moving between her family's home and a local woman's shelter, Amber was a doting mother

and someone who was incredibly close with her loved ones.

Now, at that shelter, Amber met another woman named Evangeline.

And, tending it off, the pair decided to take Jacob on a spontaneous trip to Edmonton

and, to save money, decided to book a room just outside the city at the Nisku Place Motel.

That's where they were the night of August 18, 2010, when Amber told her friend that she wanted to go into the city, and Evangeline agreed to stay back and watch her son.

When she walked out that door of their motel room, it was the last time Evangeline saw her friend ever again.
