Muriel Joan Drinkwater was the youngest of four daughters born to John Percival and Margaret Drinkwater.

On June 27, 1946, the 12-year-old started off her daily routine as normal

and took the school bus home from Goerton Grammar School in Wales.

Seen singing as she made the one-mile trek at 2.30 p.m., Muriel walked the familiar trail that took her in and out of the nearby woods and straight home to Tile Dew Farm.

During one of the moments where she stepped out of the woods, Margaret saw her daughter and knew she would be walking through the front door in a few moments.

Muriel, however, never made it past the threshold that day.
