Summary

Owen Clarke is a journalist who mostly writes about action sports. He’s spent years traveling the globe, chasing stories and adventures. As an outdoor enthusiast, his journey often began with long drives on rough, remote roads—each mile taking a toll on his car and nerves. But then, everything changed. That was until Owen discovered the motorcycle. Not that he wasn’t already a rider, but what he discovered in the motorcycle changed how he looks at his adventures in more ways than one. Owen Clark has a job that I think many of us would love to have or at least you would consider an amazing job.

0:08.0

He's a full-time journalist and he writes mainly about action sports, rock climbing, long distance travel, international travel, and motorcycles.

0:17.5

And his job takes him all over the world. He goes off chasing stories and adventures in these far off corners that few visit I'm sure.

0:25.0

He's also an outdoor enthusiast, go figure.

0:27.7

So in the early days of him doing this, he spent a lot of time bouncing around sort of

0:32.4

less desirable roads in cars

0:35.4

working his way to remote trail heads where his adventure would begin.

0:39.3

And his cars took tons of abuse, more than they deserved, I'm sure sure and those drives often created a type of

0:44.9

stress for Owen. He worried about getting another flat tire or breaking something or

0:49.5

dragging something or getting stuck and all the other damage of a scratching of the paint that goes along with those

0:54.9

type of drives, just the general strain that he was forcing the car through.

0:59.4

I mean, how much can a car take?

1:01.9

And then once he arrived at the trailhead, he says that getting

1:05.7

out of the car was almost like stepping off a plane in a foreign country. You know

1:10.4

his journey up till then had been from behind the wheel sitting in the

1:13.0

cushy seat I mean the albeit the road is really rough he still sort of

1:16.8

insulated from his environment with the glass and the metal and playing whatever he's

1:21.0

listening to on his radio system.

1:23.0

So at the trailhead, when the ignition goes off,

1:26.0

the radio player stops and silence slowly starts seeping into the car

1:31.0

and opening the door is kind of like opening up an airlock, you know, a click of the latch and then suddenly you're there.

1:37.0

Soon, sort of an alien meets earthly climate, a jarring but acceptable experience to start the adventure.
