In the first two episodes of this year, we covered the case of the Ipsilanti Ripper,

also known as the Michigan Murders, where young women were brutally assaulted and murdered

in the area around two college campuses in Ann Arbor and Ipsilanti, Michigan.

Then we had a conversation with documentary filmmaker Andrew Templeton about his 1969

project set in Ann Arbor and Ipsilanti.

Today we're going to go in depth on one of those murders, the case of Jane Mixer, the

only one of the Michigan murders that was not thought to be committed by John Norman

Collins.

Collins is currently serving life in prison for the 1969 murder of Eastern Michigan University

freshman, 18-year-old Karen Sue Bineman.

With Collins sentenced for only one of the murders, that meant the other cases were technically

unsolved, until DNA testing led them to reopen the investigation into the murder of the

third victim.
