she learned that he was seeing another woman, and she asked him to leave the family home.

He moved away, settling about 20 miles from the family home and residing with his new girlfriend.

Now, Jean's estranged husband was known to be controlling. He kept Jean under his thumb for most of their married life,

so he was likely surprised when Jean filed for divorce.
