day with a morning cup of murder. On April 27, 2002, the fully clothed body of a teenage female

was found in the vicinity of East University Drive, close to Arizona State University in Tempe.

Determining that she had likely been dead for less than 24 hours before the discovery of her

body, they found that she was likely between the ages of 15 to 19, was 5 foot 1, weighed between

120 to 125 pounds, and was most likely of either Hispanic ancestry or Native American.

With dark brown eyes and black hair, the young woman given the name Tempe Girl was found wearing a red halter top, blue jeans with a distinctive hollow silver medallion pattern,

and side zipper, underwear, and one black wedged high-heel shoe.

She also had an L-shaped scar along the back of her left hand and a scar on her left shoulder.

But unfortunately, though they had the necessary information for dental charts, DNA, and

fingerprints, none yielded any results matching her to any known missing persons.

Also placing a roadblock in the case was her cause of death.

Though initially determined to be the victim of foul play,

things got more complicated when this theory was disproven,

and instead it was determined that she died from acute cocaine intoxication.
