Unfictional is a program of true stories, personal documentaries, and radio movies.

And today on the program, two stories about the ways we try to fix ourselves

after life has broken us.

Two different approaches to fix a similar problem.

In the first a man is chased by the demons in his past

and he fights back for decades and he's still fighting.

Are we ready?

And a woman with terrifying memories makes it her life's mission to secretly teach children to be powerful.

I was so frightened that I sat on the bed and I remember digging my fingernails into my legs so that I wouldn't scream.

For some reason in my mind I knew I had to be quiet.

On this episode, the past holds a terrible power.

About the dark and mysterious ways our personalities get changed and warped pretty much from the very beginning by all the most painful experiences we live through big and small.

Sometimes a day comes when you can figure out what's eating you and maybe fix it.

But other times it just eats you and you have no idea what even happened.

to close out a kind of a chapter in the seven years of this program.

This episode marks a temporary pause of the broadcasts on our KCRW radio home.

It's a break for us to build a new thing.
