Hey, this is Beth. Listen, what we live for at Living Proof is to serve people the Word of God.

is going to speak through it. Thank you so much for giving us this privilege. Now I want you to

pick up with me in Acts 27. We're going to jump into verse 27 through 32. 27 through 32. Before this hour is over, we will finish.

We will go on through the end of the chapter so that you'll have a little idea where it heads.

It says, on the 14th night, 14 nights.

For the brain surgeons in here, that would be two weeks.

Imagine 14 nights of this kind of storm.

And one reason why I wanted to pick out the story of the perfect storm in 1991 is because this was true of that storm. It went on for day

after day after day after day, after day. This is not hyperbole here in the scriptures. On the 14th night,

we were still being driven across the Adriatic Sea, when about midnight the sailors sensed

they were approaching land.

Okay, some of you really are going to dig this kind of stuff, and some of you are not going

to care, and I don't even know if I can make the point well.

But in Greek, Luke changes the way he talks dramatically right here in this sentence.

It would be hard to translate it into English because it's really a vernacular instead of something that, a wording that we would be impressed with or notice.

But one of my commentaries said that instead of talking like Luke usually talks here, he suddenly takes up sailors'

kind of vernacular. He's talking like a sailor here instead of talking like Luke normally

talks. Completely changes here. And what the commentary was saying is that he was doing what

we do sometimes. He was kind of getting caught up

in the moment. Have you ever been with people and suddenly you just kind of started acting like

them? Found yourself like talking like them and kind of using some of their terminology. We kind of
