I'm Puget Patel, the editor-in-chief. I'm really excited for this podcast because we get to bring

music lovers into the fold of what we do every day. It's like a behind-the-scenes look at the insane conversations

between our deeply knowledgeable and passionate staff,

and they get to go deep into the importance and the emotion

and the relevance of their favorite albums.

I mean, she's one of the greatest singers of all time, indisputably.

When you first heard the album, what was your first thought?

I was really taken aback because no other songwriter in the world

can pull off a line like, are these not just excuses to not connect,

and make it feel like the most powerful

thing you've ever heard?

If I had known that as an adult, my job would be to listen and think and write about

these songs, God, I would have been so blown away that that was actually a real thing.

We're going to talk about the best new music and the stuff we really wanted to be excited

about, but didn't quite land.

That's when sort of all of the excitement sort of like started to leave me.

It's extremely fun and sometimes overly intense because we care way too much.

Part of what I love about this band is how little basically they have to give.

It does sound like a band in a recording studio generally, and I think that's what they're going for.

The faintest of praise, really.
