fascinating journey into the construction of our modern evolutionary and

political systems as seen through the conduit of Frank Darabant's 2007 horror film, The Mist, which is based

upon Stephen King's novella of the same name.

My interest in the story is rooted in the idea that it's a perfect metaphor describing the political

and evolutionary undertones of the era we're entering as the human species.

To this point in the history of the universe, our biological evolution has mostly been afforded by nature, absent of our interference,

the product of what was initially realized as a miracle, and soon after science.

Yet we're in a highly transitional time

in which science is slowly but surely obliterating more traditional means of

thought such as religious faith.

While we grow as a species, just as happens in our individual lives going from child to

a don't, we slowly exchange the idea of faith in our parents as the ones who will care for us,

provide resources and nurture, and make the right decisions for us due to our experiential ignorance in favor of a more highly evolved disposition in which

we abandon our Creator through autonomy and simply become them.
