My name is Mick Sullivan and welcome to The Past and the Curious.

This is Episode 80, it's a great episode.

It's all about plants and some really cool stories about people who either made a difference

with plants or plants made a difference in their lives, which is really cool.

First off, I lost my voice, which is why I'm kind of scrambling to get this episode

out.

Recorded the stories before I lost my voice, so that's good.

But all the other extra stuff, I'm a little horse, so sorry about that.

The first story is about a man named Fabian Garcia, a Mexican immigrant who really changed

the face of agriculture in New Mexico.

And a really interesting story, and I actually got to talk in real life to a man named

Shahab, who works at the Fabian Garcia Research Center in New Mexico, which was fascinating.

And the other story is about a man named Elliot Mitchner.

And I have to thank a listener, Lindsey Bear, for suggesting this.

It's great when people suggest things, and you know what, sometimes someone offers

the right suggestion at the right time.
