Transmitting from the Mojave Wilderness in Joshua Tree, California, now is the time for Desert Oracle Radio, the voice of the desert.

Night has fallen on the desert.

As we close out a week of omens,

There was Friday the 13th,

and in October Friday the 13, for good or ill measure?

I look at such unlucky days as days and nights of freedom and liberty if it's supposed to be bad luck.

And that's what everybody's expecting.

Then look for the good luck.

It's out there being ignored due to prejudice.

I spent that day up on the holy mountain in the sacred grove and completed the evening with a good dinner and a better book on Mono Lake.

And then a night drive down the eastern spine of California and then it was time for the partial

eclipse. An eclipse always marks a time of change, the churning of events.

On a clear day in the western deserts, when the sun is semi-obscured, there's a strange golden glow and a hush over the land.

Something like the magic light of golden hour,

but from an unexpected direction,

above and towards the east,

for it was still the morning time.
