Once upon a time, there lived a king and queen who had 12 children, 12 boys, to be exact.

They lived quite happily together, and the boys were deeply loved.

One day, just before the Queen was about to have a 13th child, the King told her,

If the child is a girl, then I shall like her to rule. Before I am gone, I shall make sure of it.

The Queen was pleased. The brothers, excited for their new siblings' arrival,

went into the forest to pick fresh flowers for their mother.

There they found a patch of the most beautiful lilies.

The brothers picked almost every flower,

and just as the last was plucked from its stem, a sorceress appeared.

How dare you?

She cried.

I gave no permission to pick my flowers.

One of the brothers stepped forward.

We did not know, madam. Forgive forgive us we were picking these flowers for our mother the queen lilies are her favourite
