Summary

1990 - Springfield, Massachusetts. On the morning after Christmas in 1990, a parks employee at Blunt Park in Springfield, MA, made a grim discovery: the body of 17-year-old Shana Renee Price. Initially, police suspected she had been shot, but an autopsy later revealed the brutal truth behind her death. Shana was a young mother to a baby boy, living a vibrant life surrounded by her friends and family. Her case received little public attention until 2022, when Springfield Police and the Hampden County DA released a phenotype composite sketch developed by Parabon Nanolabs. The sketch, created using DNA evidence found on Shana’s body, reignited hope that her tragic murder might finally be solved. However, police still need the public’s help to bring her killer to justice. If you have information on the murder of Shana Renee Price, please call or text her tip line at the Hampden County DA’s Office at (413) 432-9881. It was bordered on the north by Springfield Central High School

shooting hoops, jumping rope, swimming and walking. But at 6.55 a.m. the day after Christmas,

the area was eerily quiet and desolate. Strings of unlike Christmas lights were black against

the early morning sky. It hadn't been a white Christmas. There were still no snow on the ground.

The park attendant liked being there this time a day, when everything was still.

The mild weather meant it was comfortable to walk around in a jacket and sneakers.

As they made their way to the Roosevelt Avenue entrance, they noticed something out of place.

The early morning light was weak, and at first all that was visible was a dark shape

against the low wooden fence. It took a minute to register what they were seeing. Draped over the

wooden fence next to the entrance was the nude body of a woman covered in blood. It appeared unlikely

she was still alive. Horrified and not knowing whether

the attacker was still nearby, the attendant rushed to the nearest phone. It was 1990,

some of the woman's clothing scattered nearby. The amount of blood at the scene reminded
