When a 16 year old boy who believed he was a 500 year old vampire learned that one of his friends wanted to escape her family, he was immediately willing to help.

He made a plan to help her run away, but just running away wasn't enough.

In order for her to be truly free, he needed to make sure her parents would not be able to come after her. This is monsters. Oh, Roderick Farrell was born on March 28th, 1980 in Murray, Kentucky.

His umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and he almost died during labor.

His mother, Sandra Gibson, believes that that trauma affected his brain.

She dropped out of high school at 16 and started working at McDonald's.

The following year she got pregnant and she married Rod's father, Rick Farrell.

That marriage lasted all of three weeks and soon the couple were divorced.

Rick remained in his son's life for a while, but eventually stopped visiting because he claimed Sandra made things too difficult.

Sandra relied on support from her parents, Harrel and Rosetta Gibson, who were Pentecostal fundamentalists.

They did their best to ignore their daughter's behavior, and when they moved to Florida,

Sandra and Rod followed.

When Sandra wasn't working at fast food restaurants, she made money stripping and even selling

her body.

She raised Rod to be more of a friend than the son and that coupled with her own emotional

immaturity made the boy grow up to not be able to handle authority.

Rod's childhood was marred by alleged abuse. Court documents reveal claims that he was sexually

abused by his maternal grandfather at the age of five. However, it's important to

note that no criminal charges were ever filed regarding those allegations.

That traumatic background set the stage for Rod's later fascination with the occult and

his eventual dissent into the world of fantasy and violence.

As a teenager, Rod began to explore the darker aspects of fantasy and role-playing games.
