0:16.2	Greetings everyone. Greetings everyone and welcome to our time together turning for
0:28.6	trustworthy guidance to the way of a pilgrim one of the classic texts in the Christian mystical tradition.
0:38.0	We left off in the previous session with the pilgrim in the midst of receiving guidance,
0:44.0	and the art of ceaseless prayer from the spiritually awakened teacher
0:48.0	he has so hoped to find.
0:50.0	And we began to see in their initial interactions with each other, you begins to layer in some
0:57.0	foundational dimensions of this mystic path.
1:02.3	And to single out one again here that's so key is that the ceaseless
1:07.4	prayer is something we're not capable of doing. That's the point. And so by accepting our incapacity, our finite abilities to actualize a oneness.
1:20.0	And it deepens our complete dependency on God, who in our dependency on God infinitely
1:30.1	actualizes the infinite union in us that consummates the longing of our
1:35.4	longing for God and our God's infinite longing for us as the beloved. And then he
1:41.5	gives him a more kind of specific way to practice this, which is what the
1:45.7	pilgrim's been waiting for, like how do I do this?
1:49.2	And he says, the teacher says, the continuous prayer of Jesus is a constant. The
1:53.4	teacher says the continuous prayer of Jesus is a constant interrupted calling upon the divine
1:57.0	name of Jesus with the lips and the spirit and the heart while forming a mental
2:01.4	picture of his constant presence in imploring his grace
