Hello and welcome to Best Laid Plans. This is your host, Sarah Hart Unger, and this is July of 2021.

0:09.6

And as I mentioned, I am going to be taking a little bit of a break from new episodes during this month.

0:16.6

However, I thought it would be really fun to bring you some of our greatest hits from the archives.

0:21.7

We may not have, you know, piles and hundreds of archive episodes, but there are still some

0:26.3

really fun past episodes and guests that I would love to re-share with you from previous months.

0:32.8

So I've picked four of my favorites and we'll be airing them this month before I am back with brand new content

0:38.4

in August. So here we go with our first previous favorite episode. Hi, this is Sarah Hart Unger and welcome to episode number two of best laid plans.

1:03.4

I decided that today's episode is going to be devoted to the weekly review ritual that I do,

1:09.8

ideally at the end of each week. I say ideally because

1:13.2

I am not perfect at getting this in every week. I wish that I was. But I do get it in pretty

1:19.5

regularly and I find that doing it and taking the time to actually go through each step

1:23.8

really makes me feel better about my entire system and therefore as an extension my

1:29.0

entire life because the thing is you can't trust your planner system fully unless you know that

1:34.9

you've taken the steps to make sure that it's current and actually reflects what's going on in your

1:39.2

life and it's wonderful to have systems so that you don't forget the important things that are involved in future planning, which is always less straightforward than it seems.

1:48.2

So I actually do have a physical list that I look at every time I do my own weekly review.

1:54.7

I got the idea of a weekly review from David Allen, who is very famous for his Getting Things Done book and overall methodology.

2:02.4

And I'm a huge fan of David Allen, but I do feel like I have added a few tweaks to his

2:07.3

weekly review so that I can call it my own weekly review ritual and process.

2:12.1

I took the time to copy this process into the accessory notebook that I keep in the back of my planner.

2:19.2

I actually do need to refresh myself because if I don't look at a physical list, it's very

2:24.6

easy for me to forget a step. And if I forget a step, I may regret that down the line.
