Hello everyone, I'm Andy Surwer and welcome to At Barron's and welcome to our guest, Frank McCourt, Chairman of McCourt Global and founder of Project Liberty.

Frank, great to see you. Good to see you again, Andy. How are you? Doing great. So first off, tell us what McCourt Global is and what Project Liberty is. Well, McCourt Global is a

five-generation old business that the forbearer was a company my great-great-grandfather started in the

late 1800s. He started building roads when Henry Ford started building cars, and the company has evolved

over the years, and now we have a global footprint, and we're still involved in infrastructure

and construction and real estate, but also deeply involved in sports, media, and technology.

And Project Liberty is a initiative to reimagine how the internet works and allowing individuals to reclaim their

personhood from the machines of big tech. And so it's really a project that's focused on

fixing the broken internet so that individuals are able to own and control their data,

returning autonomy, agency, choice, and liberty to individuals,

rather than being captive by this very centralized,

autocratic, surveillance-based technology that we have right now.

Right. And just to be clear,

Frank, this is your passion. I mean, you're a seasoned executive. You could have taken any turn at this stage in your career. But you started Project Liberty. How many years ago has it been now? And

$500 million committed to it? Yeah, I've committed a half a billion dollars to it, but that's just the beginning.

This project is going to take far more than me and that amount of money, but it's certainly

adequate seed capital to get this going.

And yeah, it is.

It's my focus right now.

I've retired as CEO of McCourt Global in order to be able to allocate more

time to this. I'd say my children are my passion, but this project is second to that.

When did you start it up? We've been really added for 10 years loosely and five years formally.
