Hello and welcome to Best Lave Plans.

0:11.2

This is a podcast where we talk all things planning and planning adjacent.

0:15.0

And today we are going to talk about time blocking.

0:18.4

So every once in a while, I'm not sure what I'm going to talk about

0:21.9

on a given week and then something comes out of the blue and inspires me. And today is one of

0:27.1

those episodes. As I was listening to Deep Questions with Cal Newport this morning, they had an

0:33.3

extensive discussion, well, I would say he had an extensive discussion about time blocking and his

0:38.6

thoughts on time blocking as well as some back and forth between him and some things that Oliver

0:45.1

Berkman has said about time blocking. Now, fun fact, both Cal Newport and Oliver Berkman have been guests

0:50.9

on this podcast. I feel very lucky to have gotten to chat with both of them.

0:54.8

1:17.3

Anyway, so both of these guys do a lot of talking about systems and productivity. And both of

1:22.7

them have somewhat different, but also similar thoughts on the concept of time blocking. And listening to them,

1:29.0

I thought, why not share my take as well? I'm sure everyone is waiting with bated breath to find out

1:34.8

what I think about time blocking. No, I jest, but sometimes there is something to be said about a

1:40.8

perspective from a different gender, someone with different pressures on their plate,

1:45.3

or someone with a different kind of job. And I'm a little bit weird and that I have a partially

1:50.0

very structured job and a partially more fluid job. So I will share how I tend to use time

1:56.0

blocking and my general thoughts on the practice. But first of all, what is time blocking? So I've heard it
