0:00.0	One afternoon last winter I took a quick trip out to the Catacletan Mountains.
0:10.7	There about 90 minutes northwest of my apartment here in Falls Church, Virginia.
0:15.7	It was a very hastily improvised road trip.
0:18.9	I'd been out walking in the Antietam battlefields for a while and I thought, well, maybe I can
0:22.5	just squeeze in a real hike today before I go home.
0:27.8	So I jumped in the car and I headed out to Catacletan Mountain Park.
0:33.3	I got there, drove about a mile into the forest to a very small parking lot.
0:39.1	I got out and I started to hike down this one trail I know.
0:44.0	It was about 3.30 by then.
0:45.3	I didn't have a lot of time.
0:47.5	You don't want to get caught anywhere near dark that deep in the forest.
0:51.5	It can get very ugly.
0:54.6	The weather was cold.
0:55.6	It had been cold all day and kind of wet and great.
0:58.6	It was a Monday and a windy too.
1:03.0	So initially I didn't see any other hikers which made sense.
1:08.5	I figured what I'd do is go straight down this main trail that I knew.
1:13.8	Do an out and back walk and out for about 40 minutes and then time it.
1:19.6	Come back and that would give me enough time to get back to my car.
1:23.8	I was only about 10 minutes into the hike and I did see some other hikers.
1:29.6	It was a group of about seven or eight of them together coming the opposite way.
1:37.2	There were older people that stood out first then.
