Welcome in another episode of the PFF college football show and happy opening day to all of you, Max Chadwick, alongside Dalton Wassman here doing another one of our draft rankings this time, the top 10 linebackers in the 2025 NFL draft.

0:29.7

It always seems like every year to the linebackers, you know, it's a few really good guys at the top.

0:34.9

And then you start to see the depth of this class later on.

0:37.2

You start to see guys that maybe it could be impact special teamers as well,

0:39.9

maybe not as many projected starters.

0:41.6

But it's a decent linebacker class, I think, overall.

0:44.2

I'm excited to get into some of the names with you.

0:45.5

Yeah, I think it's tough because you look at the college level and at the NFL level,

0:48.8

the position is harder to play than ever, right? There's so many elements of offenses now, especially when you talk about the RPO game being so abundant, option football being back in the spotlight, right? You're talking

0:59.3

about a position where they're attacked more often than anybody else, right? And obviously it's always

1:04.6

been the case, but when you talk about all those elements of offenses now, the run game, the past game,

1:09.2

always getting caught up in between in that second

1:10.9

level of the defense. It's harder to play linebacker than ever. So whenever you can find

1:14.9

primetime players at this position, you need to take advantage of it because they can change your

1:18.8

whole defense. You think about guys like Fred Warner and Bobby Wagner and DeMario Davis and guys like

1:23.5

that. It just don't come around as often as you think they might, especially when you're talking about, okay, guys who can defend the run and the pass. And we've seen even some teams go with

1:31.8

a more specialized approach to it. I think about the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, they have Nick Bolton

1:36.2

as the captain, but they've done more specializing when it comes to, okay, we have guys like

1:40.0

Leo Chanel, who are our run defense linebackers, and then a guy like, say, Drew Trankwell, who this is our coverage guy, he's going to play on passing down. So it's going to be

1:47.7

interesting to me to see teams approach to this guy is this type of player, especially in the

1:53.0

middle rounds. He's a coverage player. We're going to play him on certain downs. I just think

1:56.0

you see less and less of those guys that are true three-down linebackers. So if you can find one, they're still extremely valuable. This is the one position on defense where you've got to do all
