Summary

Tickle Me Elmo, Beanie Babies, Cabbage Patch Kids, Pokemon cards. These trendy toys all inspired parental parking lot brawls and suburban shadow economies. For our Christmas hangover, we revisit the outrageous toy riots that marked the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, many of which flared up around the holiday season. Includes a little interview with my Grannie about her experience securing a Tickle Me Elmo AT ALL COSTS. Become a Patron of our show! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Guess what everybody? Christmas is over. But we have one more Christmas adjacent episode

for you, a re-release from a few years ago that was absolutely one of my favorites to

a short little interview with Mike Granny about her toy store standoff during the tickle

hysteria team member Riley. If you do enjoy this episode, I also wanted to recommend the

2:04.2

recent episode of You're Wrong About in which the brilliant and hilarious Jamie Loftus

2:10.5

tells the equally brilliant and hilarious ceremonial, the whole ridiculous story of

2:16.5

beanie babies that we touch on in this re-release. So whether you celebrate Christmas or not,

2:24.8

we all likely have some kind of holly jolly hangover. So our shows here to provide you with

2:32.8

some metaphorical, greasy food so you can be born anew in this post Christmas world. So

hug your now worthless toys close because you never know when they might come back in
