Hakeem Jeffries opened a press conference last week by saying the Democrats are, quote,

ready and willing to be able to find bipartisan common ground with the incoming administration

on any issue, while, quote, also being ready to push back against far-right extremism whenever

necessary, including any effort

to end Social Security and Medicare, as we know it. That's not totally inconsistent, but it's

unlikely to stir a dispirited party faithful either. We are cooked people. We are, like, I'm sorry,

but I am so disgusted.
