On October 1st, 1993, 12-year-old Polly class was kidnapped at knife point from a slumber party in her own home, and later murdered by Richard Allen Davis.

Now, more than 30 years after Polly's brutal death, Davis is seeking to overturn the death penalty

to which he was sentenced for the crime. Due to a 2019 executive order signed by California

Governor Gavin Newsom, the use of the death penalty has been halted throughout the state.

The judge will make a decision on Davis's death sentence recall motion on May 31st.

Today, we're looking back at my interview with retired FBI agent Eddie Fryer to discuss the murder of Polly Class and the global impact it has had to this day.

Slumber parties are a childhood staple for young girls.

For 12-year-old Polly class, that Friday lunch hour would be the

planning period for a sleepover with her two friends, the perfect way to end a long week of school.

As that school day ended at Petaluma Junior High, the trio of seventh graders headed to the

class family home. The get-together bore all the hallmarks of a middle school slumber party.

The girls jammed to music, played board games, and even planned their Halloween costumes for

later that month.

The night progressed as any other sleepover would.

As the girls got tired and ready themselves for bed, Polly went to grab sleeping bags for her friends.

Little did they know what stood in the hallway

would mark the beginning of a nightmare.
