Hello and welcome, as you can see by the title.

This is a big update in a case that I covered back in July of 2021.

We're not going to be here long.

This is not a full-length episode, but the update is a bit

longer than would make sense just tacking onto my regular episode. So I decided to just do a quick

stand-alone. And the big break is that a longtime fugitive from the Kansas City area, Sharon Kinney,

has been found. Not alive, but found. I don't want everyone to have

to go back to my old episode to listen to it, so I do want to give a quick overview of the case just

to remind you of it, but if you want the full story with all its twists and turns, go look for

July of 2021. This is just a quick timeline overview. So we are going to start in the 1950s when

Sharon married a man named James Kinney and they had two children together. On March 19th,

1960, when their daughter was two and a half and their son was 10 months old,

Sharon went into the bathroom to get ready for a church dinner.

James was asleep, having just laid down for a little bit of a nap.

According to Sharon, while she was in the bathroom, she heard her two-year-old go into the

bedroom and say, Daddy, how does this thing work?

And then she heard a bang. Sharon ran into the bedroom to see James in the bed bleeding from his

head and their daughter standing next to him. Nearby was James's loaded 22 pistol. He had been

shot in the back of the head, and according to

Sharon, the two and a half year old was the only other person in the room. Sharon called for an

ambulance, but 25-year-old James Kinney was pronounced dead at the scene. Though some investigators
