Thank you. podcast. In the weeks following Rachel Moran's horrific murder,

Maryland authorities have been working tirelessly to track down the suspected killer.

However, new details related to the case suggests that the circumstances

surrounding her death might be more sinister than initially believed. DNA evidence left behind

at the crime scene matched a suspect wanted for a home invasion and assault of a young girl

in Los Angeles. Now, members of the LAPD, Harford County Sheriff's

Department and the FBI are working together in order to identify and apprehend the violent

suspect. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gaylor joins me now to discuss what's currently known about

the suspect and the department's ongoing efforts to bring

justice to the Moran family. Sheriff, thank you for joining me today. What are these updates?

Well, actually, Emily, thank you for having me on and allowing us to continue to kind of spread the word.

The biggest update came on Thursday, August 17th, where, as you just described, we were fortunate.

Of course, we collected evidence at the scene, evidence at the scene of this horrible homicide

that included swabs for DNA. We submitted that to the state system through the Maryland

state police, and that was negative. And then it goes to the federal system, CODIS, and that's where the positive hit came from. The positive hit, as you said,
