Hello everyone and welcome to Ad Barrens. I'm Andy Surwer. And welcome to our guest, Alan Patrickoff, investor, and really one of the founding fathers of venture capital.

Nice to be here with you, Andy.

So, so many different ventures in your long career, but I want to ask you about primetime partners,

first, which is your latest endeavor. It's about investing in companies that address the elderly

market or the market for people who are a little bit older. How did you get into that? Maybe it's

obvious, but what is it so appealing? What's so appealing about that business?

Well, it happened about four years ago. My wife at that time had been suffering from Alzheimer's for 12 years, and as a result, I was reading everything.

I was going to conferences or reading books and all these people's prognostication about different

diseases and about health. And I came to realize this was a very interesting market because

by 2030 or thereabouts, they're going to be more people over 60 or 65 than there will be under

18. And I talked about it a lot, but I didn't do very much. And I was at that

point thinking about phasing out of Greycroft and doing something else, my third act. And my

son said to me that a woman named Abby Levy, who I had known very well because she was the

founding president of Ariana Huffington's

second company, Thrive Global, where I was an investor. The first company, you know,

I was Huffington Post, which I also was involved in. And he said, you know, Abby, who had

been his classmate, is focused on exactly what you're focused on.

And she and I hadn't seen each other in a couple of years since she left, Thrive.

And he put us together in a matter of days.

And a month later, we both shared this vision.

Here was an underserved market.
